  • Did the accident involve any third parties?

Fill in the European accident report form. Inform the police if necessary and take pictures of the scene of the accident.
  • Don’t worry

Accidents and breakdowns can happen – even with your Clyde car. Clyde will assist you if you need to make a claim.
  • How are you covered?

Is your car damaged? Don’t worry! You’re covered by fully comprehensive and partial comprehensive insurance. Depending on the insurance package you selected, you’ll only have to pay your chosen excess per claim in the event of fully comprehensive cover. After you’ve sent us your damage report, we’ll inform you about the details of your claim. You also needn’t worry about damage caused to third parties – there are no costs for you, as these are covered by your liability insurance.

  • Questions asked by other customers

In addition to liability insurance, your vehicle is also covered by partial and fully comprehensive insurance. Partial comprehensive cover generally covers any damage to your car for which you are not responsible (not caused intentionally). This includes damage caused by fire, natural forces, animal collision, vandalism, theft and any glass breakage. The excess for partial comprehensive cover for individuals and fleet vehicles is CHF 0.

For private customers, the excess for the fully comprehensive insurance (collision) standard package is CHF 1,500. This can be reduced to CHF 1,000 or CHF 500 during the booking process for an additional charge. The excess covers damage to your own car caused by standard collision events (e.g. rear-end collision, collision with a pillar, etc.). Excess is always calculated per claim.

If damage is caused to another vehicle, person or object in a collision, this is covered by the liability insurance. For private customers, the excess for liability insurance is CHF 0.

For fleet vehicles, the excess is always CHF 1,000 for the liability insurance and CHF 1,500 for the fully comprehensive insurance (collision). Your excess cannot be reduced in this case.

For a monthly surcharge you can select the Insurance Plus option, which provides you with cover for glass and parking damage.
The following services are included in the package:

    Parking damage:
Cover extends to include damage caused to the parked vehicle by unknown persons. Hitting a kerb, on the other hand, is considered collision damage and is not covered by the insurance. Two claims per calendar year are covered. The excess for these types of claims is CHF 500 and payable for each claim. The insured amount is unlimited.

    Extended glass cover:
Glass breakage on the front and rear windscreens, side windows and sunroof are all covered as standard with partially comprehensive cover. The extended cover also insures any parts of the vehicle that are made of glass, Plexiglas or similar hard materials (e.g. headlights, auxiliary headlights, fog lights, indicators, reflectors, reversing lights, rear-view mirror glass and number plate lights). The excess for these types of claims is CHF 0 and payable for each claim.
You can have the damage to your car repaired at one of our partner garages. Make sure that the garage handles your make of vehicle. If you can’t find a suitable garage, please get in touch.
Always report your damage to Clyde.

Is your vehicle no longer roadworthy? You’ll need to contact roadside assistance for your make of vehicle. Clyde’s roadside assistance also operates abroad.
If your car needs repairs through no fault of your own or if the work is expected to take longer than two hours (e.g. service or warranty work), we’ll provide you with a replacement vehicle while the work is carried out, up to max. CHF 500. If this amount is exceeded, the customer will be charged the difference.
Please fill in a damage report form and always send a photo and/or video so that we can assess what the problem is and help you. As a general rule:

Orange warning light: you can continue your journey to the nearest garage – please contact a garage in any case.

Red warning light = stop! Stop driving and contact roadside assistance or a garage by phone immediately.

Depending on the problem and the circumstances (e.g. gross negligence), the costs incurred may be charged to the customer.

Good to know: in the newest vehicles, there can be minor problems with the electronics from time to time. Try restarting and, if the problem persists, proceed as described above.
Damage to the bodywork should always be repaired as quickly as possible.
Technical damage must be repaired immediately to prevent consequential damage to the vehicle.
